About SwitchDB
SwitchDB is a community-driven compatibility database for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 games, available at switchdb.tasta.space. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data when you use our service.
No Account Required
SwitchDB does not require user accounts or registration. You can browse games, submit compatibility reports, and vote without creating an account or providing any personal information.
IP Address Handling
Your IP address is never stored in its raw form. We only store a salted SHA-256 hash of your IP address for the purpose of spam prevention and rate limiting. This hash cannot be reversed to reveal your actual IP address.
Cookies
SwitchDB uses only essential cookies required for the site to function properly. We do not use any tracking or advertising cookies.
- Theme preference - remembers your light or dark mode choice
- Locale/language preference - remembers your selected language
- CSRF token - protects against cross-site request forgery
- Laravel session - maintains your browsing session

Local Storage

Anonymous Reports and Votes
Compatibility reports and votes submitted on SwitchDB are fully anonymous. They are associated only with a hashed IP address for spam prevention, not with any personal identity.
Game Data Sources
Game information displayed on SwitchDB is sourced from public APIs (including IGDB and RAWG) and community contributions. Cover art and metadata are provided by these third-party services.
Affiliate Links
SwitchDB may include affiliate links to third-party retailers such as Play Asia. Clicking these links may redirect you to their websites, where third-party cookies may be set by those domains. We have no control over the privacy practices of these external sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your data to third parties. Your information is used solely for operating and improving SwitchDB.
Data Retention
- Compatibility reports and votes are retained indefinitely as they are anonymous community contributions.
- IP address hashes are retained for up to 1 year, after which they are deleted.
GDPR and Your Rights
If you are located in the European Union, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any data associated with you. Since we do not collect personal data or require accounts, there is typically no personally identifiable information to delete.
